Camping Reservation Options

Spend the night at our incredible facility. Enjoy the beautiful scenery – natural setting with Lavon Lake as our backdrop and remnant prairie considered an endangered ecosystem with plants unique to this habitat.

 

Applies to all Camping Options:

  • We have a park with pavilions, an amphitheater, restrooms, and trails
  • Potable water is available at the restrooms and power and lights are available at a group pavilion
  • Fire ring next to the group pavilion and in the open field that may be used
  • Can hike on your own or add on a guided hike in add on options below
  • Short hike: trails through our prairie
  • Long hike:
    • ~9 miles
    • Park of Trinity Trail Preservation Association that borders our property
    • Obtain map at www.trinitytrailriders.org (trails starts at our Brockdale Park trailhead)
  • Charcoal grills may be used at the pavilion
  • Must remove everything you bring!
  • Need to read and sign Park Use Release Form to agree to all our park regulations
  • $500 refundable cleaning deposit & camping fee must be paid 30 days prior to camping event

Live Raptor Program (at BPRC)

The educational program introduces children and adults to the world of raptors. These hawks, owls and falcons are well trained, and with the assistance of BPRC education specialists, show you what makes them an important part of our environment. You will discover their roles in the food chain and their unique adaptations to hunt in woodland, wetlands and prairies. There’s no better way to learn about the birds of prey in North Texas than to meet them in person!

Guided Nature Hike

  • Guided Nature Hike through the native Blackland Prairie at BPRC
  • Remnant prairie is considered an endangered ecosystem with plants unique to this habitat
  • Led by a Master Naturalist
  • Around 45 minutes
  • Very easy walk (young children would not have a problem)
  • Strollers are allowed, but no paved paths
  • Dirt or gravel in areas
  • Price = $100

 

 

Owl Pellets

  • Pellets are the undigested parts of a bird’s food, such as hair or bones, which are regurgitated (coughed up through the beak)
  • Kids can study them to learn more about the owl and the ecosystems in which they live
  • During the dissection, they can see and identify the tiny bones from that owl’s meal, can learn about the owl’s diet and place in the food web
  • Available seasonally
