Open from 9 am to 1 pm – Prairie Plants; The Good, Bad and the Ugly

Join us to meet our education ambassadors from 10:30 am to 11:30 am

At this time the park is only open to the public during these First Saturday events.

Please join us on this First Saturday event to learn all about raptors.   Open to everyone from 9 am to 1 pm. $5 adults, $3 kids, under 3 is free.

  • 9 am gates open
  • 9:30am Scavenger Hunt through the prairie – learn about invasive and native plants – meet outside the Welcome Building
  • Make raptor cookies!
  • Mashin’ Flowers! Learn how settlers used prairie flowers to dye fabric.
  • Play the Food Web Game (ya gotta try it!)
  • Birds will be on display from 10:30 am to 11:30 am

HOURS: 9 am to 1 pm

WHERE: Brockdale Park at Lake Lavon in Lucas; 1625 Brockdale Park Road, Lucas

COST: $5 per adult, $3 kids 3-12, under 3 is free

DIRECTIONS: 1625 Brockdale Park Road. Brockdale Park – cross streets: Lucas Road (FM 3286) & Brockdale Park Road. Take U.S. 75 to Allen, exit Bethany Road. Go east 6.1 miles (Bethany becomes Lucas Road). At the light go east on FM 3286 for approximately 0.6 miles. Turn on to Brockdale Park Road and go approximately 1 mile. BPRC is on the left.
