Owl Pellet
Exploration Activity
- Pellets are the undigested parts of a bird’s food, such as hair or bones, which are regurgitated (coughed up through the beak)
- Kids can study them to learn more about the owl and the ecosystem in which they live
- During the dissection, they can see and identify the tiny bones from that owl’s meal, can learn about the owl’s diet, and place in the food web
- Includes owl pellet, bone dissection guide, toothpick, and plastic tweezers
