Looking for an incredible outdoor experience for a group gathering. We have what you’re looking for at Brockdale Park at Blackland Prairie Raptor Center! For birthday parties, reunions, and other events, enjoy our natural scenery at Lavon Lake surrounded by endangered remnant prairie full of wildlife and native plants. Book your event with us today! Brockdale Park features pavilions with picnic tables, amphitheater, fire pit, grills, bathroom, hiking trails, and much more!
Rental Information:
- No overnight camping (you can make a camping reservation separately)
- We have a park with pavilions, an amphitheater, restrooms, and trails
- Potable water is available at the restrooms and power and lights are available at Bald Eagle Pavillion
- Fire circle next to the Bald Eagle Pavillion and in the open field that may be used
- You can hike on your own or add on a guided hike in add on options below
– Long hike: 9 miles
– Park of Trinity Trail Preservation Association that borders our property
– Obtain map at www.trinitytrailriders.org (trails starts at our Brockdale Park trailhead)
- You may bring your own charcoal grills and propane grills
- We are in the process of removing/replacing them
- Must remove everything you bring!
- Must read and sign Park Use Release Form to agree to all our park regulations

Need more time at the park? Add more hours to your reservation!
- You will have access to the park area, pavilions, pond, lake overlook, hiking trails to use on your own
- Fishing is allowed as long as it is catch and release; you need to bring your own equipment

Live Raptor Program
Price: $350
The educational program introduces children and adults to the world of raptors. These hawks, owls and falcons are well trained, and with the assistance of BPRC education specialists, show you what makes them an important part of our environment.
- Enjoy our Live Raptor Program at BPRC in our amphitheater
- You will discover their roles in the food chain and their unique adaptations to hunt in woodland, wetlands and prairies
- Enjoy the beautiful scenery โ natural setting with Lavon Lake and remnant prairie as our backdrop
- Bring your lunch and stay onsite for a picnic lunch
- We have a park with pavilions, an amphitheater, restrooms, and trails

Guided Nature Hike
Price: $15/person
(10 person min required)
The hike will go through the native Blackland Prairie at BPRC. The remnant prairie is considered an endangered ecosystem with plants unique to this habitat.
- Led by a Master Naturalist
- ~45 minutes
- Very easy walk (young children would not have a problem)
- Strollers are allowed, but no paved paths
- Dirt or gravel in areas

Owl Pellets
Price: $4/pellet
Pellets are the undigested parts of a birdโs food, such as hair or bones, which are regurgitated (coughed up through the beak)
- Great hands-on learning for kids to study about owls and the ecosystems in which they live
- During the dissection, they can see and identify the tiny bones from that owlโs meal, can learn about the owlโs diet and place in the food web
- All of our pellets are heat-sterilized
- Available seasonally
