Blackland Prairie Raptor Center’s birds of prey have many years of experience introducing children and adults to the world of raptors. These hawks, owls and falcons are well trained, and with the assistance of BPRC education specialists, show you what makes them an important part of our environment. We also have owl pellets for sale!

Painting with Petunia

Are you ready to embark on a unique and unconventional artistic journey? Picture this: a canvas, vibrant paints, and an unexpected partner in creativity – a magnificent black vulture.

Information:

  • 1 hour painting session with our black vulture ambassador, Petunia
  • Includes:
    • a behind the scene tour of our education ambassador area
    • paint color selection
    • watching Petunia complete your painting
    • picture with Petunia after your painting is complete
  • Must be a minimum of 10 years old
  • Max # of guests = 10
  • Price = $350

Behind the Scenes Tour of BPRC

Ever wondered what the day-to-day looks like at the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center? This is your opportunity to tour the “behind the scenes” area to learn more about what we do on a daily basis. As an added bonus, you will have the opportunity to meet our full crew of raptor ambassadors!

Information:

  • 2 hour behind the scenes tour of BPRC
  • Can often be tailored to your interests in the organization
    • Prairie Conservation & Restoration
    • Raptor Rehabilitation
    • Education & Training
    • *Please note, we cannot guarantee access to the hospital for tours due to possible medical emergencies.
  • Must be a minimum of 10 years old
  • Price = $350

Guided Nature Hike

  • Guided Nature Hike through the native Blackland Prairie at BPRC
  • Remnant prairie is considered an endangered ecosystem with plants unique to this habitat
  • Led by a Master Naturalist
  • Around 45 minutes
  • Very easy walk (young children would not have a problem)
  • Strollers are allowed, but no paved paths
  • Dirt or gravel in areas
  • Price = $100

Raptor Photo Shoot

Have a group of photographers that are nature enthusiasts? Schedule a photo shoot with BPRC as a group event! We will have multiple raptors available for you to photograph.

Information:

  • Includes: 2 hours with birds
  • Raptors will be either “on hand” or tethered and perched
  • Get as close at 6’ from the raptors
  • Can use tripods or monopods
  • Minimum # required: 10
  • Price = $300
  • Option to add additional hours of park use (NO birds will be present) for $50/hr
